After her daughter was born, she decided to start an in-home daycare while being a stay-at-home mom. Although her college major was Environmental Science and Geology, she fell in love with caring for and nurturing small children. Her daughter, who is now in middle school, went through Nativity’s preschool program. During that time Mrs. Duebel served on Nativity’s board as the Special Events Coordinator and was a substitute teacher.

We are excited to introduce, Hilary Hays, who will be opening up the new 3 year old program here at Nativity. After graduating from University at Buffalo with a BS/MS on occupational science, Hilary has worked as a registered/licensed occupational therapist who specializes in the pediatric population and has been working in classrooms and homes for almost 10 years now. Hilary is excited to maintain the high standard of education here at Nativity focusing on Kindergarten readiness, while incorporating many of her special skills as an occupational therapist, including learning and play acitivities that include fine motor, sensory, visual perceptual, and proprioceptive skills. Many of you may recognize her, as she is an East Aurora native with 3 children (Abby, Ben, and Charlotte) who went through the program here at Nativity. During that time she has volunteered in the classroom and sat on the board.

We are happy to introduce our teacher’s assistant for the new 3 year old program; Lacey O’Neil.
Lacey is a certified Life Coach specializing in Inner Child Work. Being the oldest of eight kids, she took pride in her ability to assist in their growth and well being from very early on. She excelled at her first job as a Beginners Snowboard Instructor at Holiday Valley for 5 years. Working with kids ages 2-7, Lacey became very familiar with the development of motor skills and was trained on how to adapt to the individual way each child learns. From the age of 16 to present day she has been dubbed the weekly babysitter for five families; all of which hold glowing reviews for her caretaking. From creating fun games with their imagination to immersive crafts & science experiments Lacey truly values the experience of learning with children. She is overjoyed to assist Hilary Hays in providing a fun, supportive, growth oriented environment for your kids here at Nativity Preschool.
Nativity Preschool exists to provide children with a time to grow and develop, with respect for each child’s readiness. It provides hands on experiences through which children can make discoveries about the world, life and themselves. Its purpose is to present a well-rounded program of quality instruction that will help children develop a love of learning and build a solid foundation for future education.
Nativity Preschool’s first emphasis is on social readiness: getting along well and playing well with others, following simple directions and listening well at circle time. The school then gives emphasis to teaching academic (kindergarten) readiness: recognizing and writing first name, reciting the alphabet, recognizing upper and lower case letters, beginning to hear letter sounds, counting from 1 through 10, recognizing numbers 1 through 10, recognizing shapes, identifying simple patterns, identifying colors, hearing rhyming words, learning opposites, making size comparisons, recognizing special relationships and sequencing.
